Getting ready for your photoshoot

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

So you've booked a photo shoot with me and that's awesome! But what sort of things will you need to do to get ready?

Well first of all, I think collaboration is the key to some great images. So you could make a list of ideas before the big day and share them with me on social media or via a text. I also love using Pinterest and that can be a great visual way to let me know what sorts of images you'd like from your time with me. In many instances with previous photo shoots, I've made some boards on Pinterest with Clients, shared image ideas and we've used them as a starting point for our time together.

What to wear?

What do you want from your images? Think about how each individual outfit will look at the location or studio setting we're using. Bring a few to try and see what looks best. Often we are at a location where change facilities are available or I also have a change tent to use as well

It should be something you're comfortable in and feel like yourself when you wear it If it's family images, colours and tones are important to match and not clash. Again it depends on what look you're going for with the images. Jeans and white shirts can look great for some images and for others that idea won't be suitable or appeal to them.

Can we meet up and discuss ideas?

Of course! We can meet for a coffee and discuss ideas. That's a great way to get to know each other and for the client to become more comfortable with me as their photographer.

Can I bring a friend or family member?

Absolutely! Someone to accompany you is perfectly fine. Especially if they know you well and you feel comfortable and supported by them.

Bring your music too!

Music can help inspire creativity also help the client feel relaxed and ready for some fun images together. We can use a portable bluetooth speaker on location to pump out the tunes!
